Crabapple Tree - This flowering crabapple
tree jumped right out of the fog. It was an absolute pleasure to see such
a burst of color in an otherwise drab landscape. Trees: Nature's Art -

360° Tour Dam Square Amsterdam, Netherlands - A river ran through it: You're standing in Dam Square, historic heart of Amsterdam. About 800 years ago, the Amstel River was dammed here, giving the town its name. Where medieval fishing boats once docked, you can tour 17th-century buildings from Holland's Golden Age, mingle with street performers, and shop luxury stores. Then hop a bike or boat to further explore this canal-laced city, sometimes called the Venice of the North. Expedia.
Ambush (2001) From the "The Hire" Digital Film Series - On a dark freeway, a van swerves close and the door slides open. From inside, masked gunmen threaten to fire unless The Driver stops and surrenders his passenger, a seemingly harmless man they accuse of smuggling diamonds. It's a simple choice: do or die. Legendary director John Frankenheimer and star Clive Owen combine talents to create a dramatic chase with some unexpected twists.Shuttle Moon Credit & Copyright: Anthony DeVito - Explanation: As a gorgeous full Moon rose above the eastern horizon on February 7, the Space Shuttle Atlantis streaked skyward towards an orbital rendezvous with the International Space Station. Watching from Orlando, Florida, about 60 miles west of the Kennedy Space Center launch site, photographer Tony DeVito captured this digital image, one of a series of pictures of the shuttle's fiery climb. While foreground street lights flickered on and a clear evening sky grew dark, the shuttle's path just grazed the bright lunar disk. On this mission, STS-98, Atlantis carried the U.S. Destiny laboratory module to be added to the expanding orbital outpost. Atlantis is currently scheduled to return to the space station next month. X-Ray Rainbows Credit: J. McClintock et al. (CfA), CXC, NASA Explanation: A drop of water or prism of glass can spread out visible sunlight into a rainbow of colors. In order of increasing energy, the well known spectrum of colors in a rainbow runs red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. X-ray light too can be spread out into a spectrum ordered by energy ... but not by drops of water or glass. Instead, the orbiting Chandra X-ray Observatory uses a set of 540 finely ruled, gold gratings to spread out the x-rays, recording the results with digital detectors. The resulting x-ray spectrum reveals much about the compositions, temperatures, and motions within cosmic x-ray sources. This false color Chandra image shows the x-ray spectrum of a star system in Ursa Major cataloged as XTE J1118+480 and thought to consist of a sun-like star orbiting a black hole. Unlike the familiar appearance of a prism's visible light rainbow, the energies here are ordered along radial lines with the highest energy x-rays near the center and lowest energies near the upper left and lower right edges of the image. The central spiky region itself is created by x-rays from the source which are not spread out by the array of gratings. Tour Venice Beach's boardwalk Los Angeles, California. L.A.'s playground:
You've left the freeways and are taking in the scene on historic Venice
Beach. With its wide beach and laid-back artsy atmosphere, Venice has been
a playground for Los Angeles residents since its inception in 1905. After
years of decay, it's rebounded into a place where the hip and hunky strut
their stuff and wealthy residents live in modernist cubes on the picturesque
canals that give this community its name. Expedia.
"Chosen" directed by Ang Lee - What could be so mysterious about an eight-year-old Tibetan boy? When The Driver picks him up at a deserted shipyard, it soon becomes apparent. BMWFilms.
Spirals On Edge Credit & Copyright: Robert Gendler Explanation: Spiral galaxies viewed face-on display a grand design, with graceful spiral arms traced by bright star clusters and glowing stellar nurseries. When seen edge-on, their appearance is very different but no less striking as their central regions bulge and dark cosmic dust lanes appear silhouetted against starlight from flattened galactic disks. This masterful mosaic of digital images shows nine prominent edge-on spirals arranged as follows: top; NGC2683, M104, NGC4565, middle; NGC891, NGC4631, NGC3628, and bottom; NGC5746, NGC5907, and NGC4217. Perhaps the best known of these is M104 (NGC4594) whose more descriptive moniker is the Sombrero Galaxy. Notably, the edge-on perspective of these galaxies allows a measurement of their galactic rotation speed using the Doppler effect. Plotting rotation speed versus distance from the center determines a galaxy's gravitational mass and historically led to premier evidence for mysterious Dark Matter. 360° Tour Along Portland's riverfront Portland, Oregon. Portland's waterfront: You're enjoying a stroll along the Willamette River in Portland's Tom McCall Waterfront Park. A quiet haven on cloudy days, the park explodes with hacky-sackers and fountain-splashers when the sun comes out. Take a boat tour from here under the city's many bridges, or set off on foot. On this bank of the river you'll discover Portland's walkable downtown and hilly parks; on the other, its charming older neighborhoods. PhotoTripUSA.
god@heavenUSA | 20:00 Comedy Drama Family International Director: Joseph Neulight Producer: David Straus, Joseph Neulight Principal Cast: Spencer Weissman - Synopsis In cyberspace, nobody knows if you're divine. That's the problem faced by one little boy in California when he sends an e-mail to "god@heaven," asking, "But how do I know you're there?" The message reaches the holy city of Jerusalem, Israel . . . but does it go even farther?
One Hundred-Kilometer Terrain on Venus Credit: Magellan Spacecraft, USGS, NASA Explanation: Even the hot and cracked surface of Venus has rolling hills. Although never actually photographed from up-close, images of the Venusian surface like that shown above have been constructed in recent years by digitally merging distant photographs from height-sensitive radar. Isolated above is a 100-kilometer wide swath inside a volcanic region known as Yavine Corona. Visible in the frame are numerous fractures in the surface. Data is missing from the dark lane on the upper right. The surface of Venus is so hot and oppressive that robot spacecraft landed there have lasted for only a few hours. 360° Tour Paseo del Rio (River Walk) San Antonio, Texas. River Walk: You are strolling one of the country's most scenic urban thoroughfares, the Paseo del Rio (River Walk) in downtown San Antonio. Here you find the whole enchilada of San Antonio's charms: old-Spanish architecture, lush vegetation, Texas-size hospitality, and a festive ambience.
The Revenge of the Red Balloon USA | 8:00 Collection Comedy Family International No Dialogue Synopsis In this farcical homage to the French classic short film The Red Balloon, The Balloon returns to hunt down those nasty little garcons who popped him 40 years ago. ABOUT THE BALLOON: Classically trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Latex Arts, The Balloon went on to win critical acclaim in the National Theatre's 1977 production of Hamlet for his stunning portrayal of Laertes. His real breakthrough, however, came while singing the part of Bill in the Old Vic's award-winning Oliver, playing opposite John Gielgud's Fagan. The Balloon feels he can play any color, though as he himself admits, he is best known for red.
Garden of the Gods - I must admit that my expectations from photography in what is in essence a city park weren't terribly high, but this early morning generated two nice red-rock images before the sun got high enough to make the scenes too contrasty. At least we didn't have to drive far for breakfast. COLORADO HIGH COUNTRY - by David Henderson, PhotoTripUSA.
360° Tour Red Square Red Square, Moscow. Square one: You're standing on the cobblestone expanse of Red Square in Moscow. Lenin's venerated tomb, St. Basil's colorful onion domes, and the red walls of the Kremlin rise around you. Once crowded with market stalls, and later with tanks and troops on parade, this plaza has been the center of Moscow life for centuries. Any tour of the 850-year-old city naturally begins here.
Go Sick: Freakboys USA | 2:49 Collection Comedy Extreme - Synopsis: A couple of nutbag ne'er-do-wells from the Go Sick Army cut loose in public with a phone-humping, spasmodic frenzy. You will never use a payphone or offer to assist anyone in public ever again.
Red Mountain -We'd spotted the position earlier in the day and arrived in good time for sunset, but whilst this image was pleasing because of the clouds, the sun sank below a bank of cloud to the west and we never did get to photograph these mountains as they turn fire-red in the last of the sun. COLORADO HIGH COUNTRY - by David Henderson, PhotoTripUSA.

Approaching the International Space Station Credit: STS-100 Crew, NASA Explanation: Earlier this month the crew of the US Space Shuttle Endeavor took in this view as they approached the developing International Space Station (ISS). The Endeavor and ISS crew installed Italy's Raffaello, a Multi-Purpose Logistics Module and successfully deployed Canada's Canadarm2, a robot remote-controlled arm that can move about the outside of the station. The shuttle undocked from the ISS yesterday and is scheduled to return to Earth today. A manned Russian Soyuz spacecraft is scheduled to dock with Earth's busiest orbiting outpost early today.
